What to Pack For a Ski Trip

This past weekend my friends and I went to Avon, CO. We had a really good time, but let me tell you it was cold!! I was so glad that I did my research prior to going so that I had everything I needed before we arrived. If you interested in finding out more about my trip and what we did click here. If you’re in the process of planning your trip to hit the slopes, I have put together a list of the essentials from what to wear while skiing to a few toiletries that you may not have even thought about.

What to Wear on The Slopes

Ski pants – You will need some insulated pants to wear on the slopes. Also make sure they are waterproof, because you know snow, lol!  My recommendation is to go for solid color foundation pieces and change out your laying pieces with different colors. This way you can wear them multiple times and no one will be the wiser.

Ski Jacket – Just as with the ski pants, you will want to get a neutral-colored jacket so that you can wear it the entire time. Be sure your jacket is also waterproof.

Thermals – these are used to layer underneath your ski clothes and keep you warm while outside.

Snow Boots – while enjoying your outdoor activities you want to make sure you have some good waterproof boots. Nothing ruins a trip faster than the wrong kinds of shoes.

Accessories

Ski googles, Sunglasses, Ski Gloves, face masks – When your going up and down the slopes you will want to protect your eyes and hands. Be sure the googles you chose have a good stretch to them as they will need to fit around a helmet. (The helmets can be rented on-site.) If you plan on doing skiing, snowboarding, or snowmobiling you definitely want to get a face mask, the neck gators work really well.

Thermal socks and Hand Warmers – These are very important! They will keep your hands and feet nice and warm allowing you to enjoy your time outside longer. The HotHands work so good you simply activate them and just insert them into your gloves.

What to Pack for Off the Slopes

Once you’ve done all your outdoor activities you will want to get changed and see what the area has to offer. Here are a few things you will want to bring:

Sweaters  –  turtleneck and cashmere sweaters are great at keeping you warm throughout the day. They also can transition easily for a night time look.

Gloves, Hats, and Scarves – beanies, scarves, and gloves will keep you warm around town.

Jackets – Once you’ve changed out of your ski clothes you want to get into your more fashionable jacket for some photo opps.

Face Masks – Since we’re still in the throes of Covid, you want to make sure you have plenty of face masks especially if you’ll be dining out and shopping.

Toiletries

Body Moisturizers – Being out in the cold all day can be very drying to the skin. Pack a good moisturizers to use before and after you return from being out all day.

Lip Balm – just like your skin, your lips can dry out as well. Bring plenty of lip balm.

Sunscreen – even it is not sunny you will need a good sunscreen for your face.

Hope you enjoy your trip as much as I did!
